RAD DOGS

Rad Dogs is Hello Bully’s free course for people living with dogs who are reactive or aggressive. We all know them, the dogs who are absolutely perfect in the home, but out into the world and they are so triggered by other dogs or people that it’s unmanageable. We can help you with that!

Reactivity and aggression are not uncommon in dogs and more times than not, we can use management and behavior modification to help tune down that temper. Many times, defensive behavior is a sign that dogs are anxious or fearful. We will help you assess and address that in this course. Dogs who are reactive/aggressive may not be perfect, but with guidance they can lead full lives, and live with more harmony in the world.

We piloted this program in Pittsburgh in 2021, and everyone who did the work got results. We even had a couple of legitimate rock star graduates. Now, we are expanding to a remote course to get this help to more people. This program is free, but donations are graciously accepted.

You will need access to Facebook and Zoom, the ability to take and upload short videos to a Facebook group. You’ll also need to get the right hardware (martingale collar or harness with a backup), and provide high value treats for your dog’s training sessions.) This course will have weekly Zoom meetings, and lots of homework! It would also be helpful if you can have someone local with a helper dog for some of the exercises. You will have Hello Bully’s Behavior Coaches working with you to make sure you and your dog are staying on course, and getting the most from your lessons.

Hello Bully is deeply dedicated to using methods that are fun, and don’t rely or fear or force. We will explain more in week one, but we do ask that you agree to the following:

The RAD DOG AGREEMENTS
1.     Keep you and your dog safe. Use humane backup hardware. We will discuss hardware in Week One.
2.     Reward good behavior and don’t be cheap.
3.     Add snacks even if you aren’t getting the behavior you want. It doesn’t hurt.
4.     Do not forget your treat bag. If you forgot your treat bag, go back and get your treat bag.
5.     Bail your dog out of a situation that is too much.
6.     Understand your dog’s triggers, anxieties, and how your dog communicates.
7.     Gentle leash pressure is an acceptable form of communication, at a pressure of 1 out of 5.
8.     We do not use slip leads, choke chains, prong collars or shock collars. No punishment. No corrections. If you are currently using one of these tools, you are welcome to join us and transition your dog to more modern tools.

If you feel you and your dog are a great match for this program, please fill out the form below and someone will respond to you. Spaces are limited, so please don’t wait to sign up.
